White label local SEO services: what each one involves, and how to check it was done
Published by the Passieon team
White label local SEO services are the local search work an agency resells under its own name: the Google Business Profile, reviews, citations, location pages, local links, the technical work underneath them, and the monthly report. A partner does the work and the agency's client never deals with anybody but the agency.
Agencies that want this delivered under their own name use our white label local SEO.
Local SEO is for businesses that sell in a place: trades, clinics, law firms, restaurants, shops with a counter. It is also the part of SEO agencies are asked for most and least often have somebody in-house to do, because it never stops. Hours change, a stranger suggests an edit and Google accepts it, reviews arrive and need replies. For how the arrangement itself works, the beginner's guide to white label local SEO covers the basics. This page goes service by service: what each one involves, what you should receive, and how to check it was done.
Google Business Profile optimisation
For most local businesses the profile produces more calls than the website. The work is getting every field right and keeping it right.
- The primary category, which matters most, and the secondary categories that match services the business actually sells.
- The services list, the description, opening hours and holiday hours.
- The address or service area decision. A business that visits customers and does not receive them at its address should show a service area and hide the address.
- Photographs of the real premises, staff and work, added regularly.
- Products, attributes and booking links where the category offers them.
- Watching for edits suggested by the public, which Google sometimes accepts without asking.
What you should receive: a dated log of every change. How to check: open the profile and compare. A partner should be a manager on the profile, never its primary owner. What to refuse: keywords added to the business name and addresses that are not a real staffed location. Both break Google's guidelines for business profiles and are the usual route to a suspension. The service itself is described on Google Business Profile optimisation.
Review management
Reviews affect both where a business appears in the map results and whether anybody calls once they see it. The work has three parts.
- A request process the client can run without thinking about it: the right moment to ask, a short link, and a message in the client's voice. The Google review link generator makes the link.
- Replies to every review, drafted for the client to approve, within whatever rules their trade has. A clinic cannot confirm that a reviewer is a patient.
- Watching for reviews filtered out by Google, and for fake reviews from competitors that can be reported.
What to refuse: paying for reviews, offering anything in return for them, and asking only the customers likely to be happy. Google's policies forbid all three. In the United States the Federal Trade Commission's rule on fake reviews, in force since October 2024, makes buying or faking reviews a legal matter as well.
Citation audit and cleanup
A citation is any listing of the business's name, address and phone number on another site. Wrong ones cost calls: an old number on a directory sends customers to a line nobody answers.
The work is to fix one correct version of the name, address and phone, find every listing that disagrees with it, and correct them, starting with the platforms that matter: Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Yelp, Facebook, the trade directories for the client's industry and the data providers that feed many smaller sites. A bulk submission to hundreds of directories nobody visits is not the same job. Local citation sites lists the ones worth keeping accurate, and local SEO citations explains the cleanup.
What you should receive: a sheet of every listing, its live link, what was wrong and what it says now. How to check: open ten links at random.
Location and service pages
A business needs a page for each service it wants calls for and, if it serves several towns, a page for each place it genuinely serves. Each page should be written for that place or that service: the work done there, the questions people ask, the details only a local business would know.
What to refuse: one template copied fifty times with the town name swapped. Google's spam policies name these doorway pages, and they are the pattern most local sites need rescuing from.
Local link building
The links that help a local business are the ones a local business would naturally have: suppliers, trade associations, the chamber of commerce, local press, sponsorships of local clubs and events, and partners it works with. They are slower to get than bought links and they do not carry the risk.
What you should receive: a list of every link with the page it sits on. How to check: visit them. A real local site has an audience and a reason to mention the business.
The technical work underneath
- LocalBusiness structured data on the site that matches the profile exactly. The local business schema generator writes it.
- A phone number that can be tapped on a mobile, in the header of every page.
- A store or branch locator that search engines can crawl, for businesses with more than one location.
- Page speed on mobile, where most local searches happen.
How to check: run a page through Google's Rich Results Test and open the site on a phone.
Monthly reporting
A local report should lead with what the client can spend: calls from the profile, direction requests, website clicks from the profile, and enquiries from the site. The Business Profile's own performance figures and the client's Search Console supply all of these, so the client can check every number. Positions in the map results go underneath, as the explanation for those numbers. White label SEO reports explains how the report passes from partner to agency to client without the partner showing.
Suspended profiles and reinstatement
Reinstating a suspended profile is a different job from optimising a working one. It has a lower chance of success and needs evidence the business is real at its address. A partner who quotes it as ordinary local SEO is not being straight with you. Google Business Profile suspended explains the process.
Which services to sell first
For a new local client the usual order is the profile, then reviews, then citations, then pages, then links. The first two move fastest and the client sees them on their own phone, which buys the patience the later work needs. The local SEO checklist puts the whole sequence in order.
How to check a white label local SEO partner did the work
- The profile's change log matches what you see on the profile.
- The citation sheet has live links, and the ones you open are correct.
- New pages are live at the addresses in the log, and they read as written for that place.
- Structured data passes the Rich Results Test.
- Every number in the report can be found in the client's Business Profile or Search Console.
- The link list opens on real sites.
If a partner cannot give you any of these, that is the answer. For the rest of the cluster, read what white label SEO is, the white label SEO guide for agencies and how to vet a white label SEO company.
