SEO for therapists
Somebody looking for a therapist searches for the problem before they search for the profession: anxiety, a relationship, a child who is not sleeping. Then they search for a therapist nearby, or online, and they read the profile of the person more carefully than any other kind of client does.
Peak Endurance, a sports clinic, Sep 2023 to May 2024, from 482,378 impressions. Their Search Console.
Therapy SEO is being found for the issues you work with, in the places and formats you offer, with a profile and a page that let a nervous person feel they know who they are calling.
Searches we build for, with the place name your customers use:
- therapist near me
- anxiety therapist [city]
- couples counselling [town]
- online therapy [country]
What stops therapists getting enquiries
Three problems we find on nearly every therapist website we audit, and what we do about each.
-
One page for every issue
A practice that works with anxiety, grief, couples and children has one page that lists them, so it ranks for none. Each issue needs its own page, written for the person searching for help with it.
-
A profile that says too little
The Business Profile has one category, no services and no photograph of the room. People deciding whether to call want to see where they are going and who they will meet.
-
Reviews that cannot be asked for
Many regulators forbid soliciting testimonials, so the work is in the profile, the pages and the practitioner biographies instead. We work within your rules and never ask you to break them.
What you get each month
- An issue page written or rewritten each month, in plain words, checked by the practitioner before publishing
- Google Business Profile: categories, services, session formats, photos of the rooms, questions answered
- Practitioner pages with training, approach and what a first session is like
- Citations on the professional and local directories, identical everywhere
- Technical fixes: booking and enquiry forms that work on a phone, speed, practice markup, privacy
- A monthly Search Console report of the issue searches you now appear for, and the enquiries behind them
Want to do it yourself first?
We have written the whole method out, for therapists specifically, in the order it pays to do it. It is free, it is not a lead magnet, and there is nothing to fill in to read it. Most businesses get real movement from the first half of it on their own.
Where we do this
The method is the same everywhere; what people search for and where the results come from are not. Each market has its own page, and so do the cities where therapists search for this most.
How pricing works
What sets the size of the month is the number of practitioners and issues, and whether you offer sessions online as well as in person. A solo practice is a smaller month than a group with online and in-person work. We scope the work on a call and send a written quote before anything starts. The SEO services page explains what a month covers and who does it.
Results from real clients
Every number below is from the client’s own Google Search Console, for the period shown. Impressions are how often the site appeared; clicks are people who arrived. What each visit is worth is your sales process, not ours, so these are the visits we can prove rather than a conversion figure we cannot.

Questions therapists ask us
Can therapists ask for Google reviews?
It depends on your regulator, and many say no. Where reviews are allowed we help you ask well; where they are not, the profile, the issue pages and the practitioner biographies do the work instead.
Do online sessions change the SEO?
Yes. Online therapy is searched by country or state rather than by town, and it needs its own page and its own profile settings so the practice is found for both.
How long until we see enquiries?
Profile work shows within weeks. Issue pages against directories and established practices take three to six months, and the first enquiries usually come from the map rather than the site.
Do you write the issue pages?
We draft them from the searches and from your own words about how you work, and the practitioner reviews every page before it goes live.
