LocalBusiness schema generator
For a shop people visit, or for a business that travels to customers. The second shape is the one most generators get wrong, and it is most of the trades. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
Your markup
What this does not do
It does not rank you. Structured data helps a search engine read what the page already says and is a prerequisite for some result types; it is not a ranking factor and adding it to a page nobody wants changes nothing. Anybody selling schema as a ranking service is selling you twenty minutes of work.
What it does do is make an inconsistency visible. If the markup and your Google Business Profile disagree about the phone number, you have published a contradiction about the one thing local search is most careful about, and that is worth more than the markup itself.
Check these before you paste it
- The name matches your Google Business Profile exactly, with no service words added.
- The phone number is the one on the profile, not a call-tracking number that appears nowhere else.
- The hours are current, including the days you are closed, and they match the profile.
- Everything the markup claims is also visible to a reader on the page. Markup describing things a visitor cannot see is a manual action waiting to happen.

Questions about local business schema
What is local business schema?
A block of structured data, usually JSON-LD in the head of the page, that states the business name, address, phone, hours and type in a format search engines read directly rather than infer. For a local business it is the cheapest way to make the details on your site machine-readable and consistent with your Google Business Profile.
Does schema markup improve rankings?
Not directly, and anybody saying otherwise is overselling it. It helps search engines understand and trust what the page says, it is a prerequisite for some result types, and it makes an inconsistency visible to you. Ranking comes from the profile, the reviews and the pages.
What if I do not have a public address?
Use the service area shape. If you work at the customer’s property, publishing a home address is a suspension risk on your Google Business Profile and it does not help you rank further out. Declare the areas you serve instead, which is what areaServed is for.
Where does the code go?
Inside a script tag of type application/ld+json, anywhere in the head or the body. One per page. On a multi-location site, each location page carries its own with that location’s details, never the same block copied everywhere.
Does it have to match my Google Business Profile?
Yes, exactly, and this is the part that is most often wrong. If the markup says one phone number and the profile says another, you have published a contradiction about the thing local search is most careful about. Same for the name, the address and the hours.
Is anything I type here sent anywhere?
No. It is generated in your browser. There is no form submission and no network request, which you can confirm in your browser’s network tab.
