Small business SEO services

What a small business needs from Google is short: when somebody nearby searches for what you do, your name comes up, and the call comes to you. What small businesses get sold is usually longer: a twelve-month contract, a dashboard, and a report nobody reads.

Small business SEO is the work sized to the real goal. A Google Business Profile that is actually maintained, a page for each thing you sell, reviews that keep arriving, the technical basics fixed once and kept fixed, and a monthly report you can read in two minutes. The scope comes from a call about your business rather than from a package, and when something is not worth your money, we say so.

How the work is done

The profile first, because it pays first

For most small businesses the map pack is where the calls come from, and it is won by maintenance: the right categories, the services listed, hours kept current, photographs added this month, reviews replied to. Most of your competitors set theirs up once and never went back, which is the opportunity.

A page for each thing you sell

One Services page listing everything ranks for nothing. A page per service, in the plain words your customers type, ranks for each. Most small businesses need fewer pages than they fear and better ones than they have.

Reviews without the awkwardness

Volume, recency and replies all feed your visibility, and all three are in your control. We set up the asking so it happens on its own after a job, and the replies get written, so the stream keeps running without anybody remembering to run it.

A report you can read in two minutes

From your own Search Console and your own profile: the searches you appeared for, the clicks and calls behind them, what we did this month and what is next. If a number needs a paragraph of explanation, the paragraph is there, in plain words.

What you get

  • Google Business Profile: categories, services, hours, photographs and posts, kept current
  • A page for each service you offer and each area you genuinely serve
  • Titles and descriptions in the words your customers actually type
  • A review process that runs without you having to remember it
  • The technical basics fixed: speed, indexing, schema, and the site working properly on a phone
  • A short monthly report from your own Search Console, with the enquiries beside the clicks

Do it yourself first, if you would rather

The profile, reviews, citations and pages, written out in the order that pays. It is the same list we work from, free, and the profile half is very doable yourself.

Results from real clients

Every number below is from the client’s own Google Search Console, for the period shown. Impressions are how often the site appeared; clicks are people who arrived. What each visit is worth is your sales process, not ours, so these are the visits we can prove rather than a conversion figure we cannot.

How the engagement works

There is no package to pick from. What the site needs is decided on a call and written down before any work starts, because a business with one location and a clean site needs a different month to an agency reselling to twelve clients.

  1. 01

A call, before anything is quoted

Thirty minutes on what you sell, where you sell it, and what the site looks like today. No scope is written before that conversation, because the right work depends on all three.

  2. 02

    A written scope and quote

What will be done, in what order, and what it costs, in writing. Nothing starts until you have agreed to it.

  3. 03

    Month to month from there

The work runs monthly and the scope changes as the site does. Cancel with 30 days’ notice.

True of every engagement

  • Search Console and Analytics set up in your name, so the data is yours
  • No lock-in: month to month, cancel with 30 days’ notice
  • One person you can email, in your working hours
  • Every change listed in the monthly report

Questions about small business seo

How much does SEO cost for a small business?

It is scoped on a call, because a cafe with one location and a builder covering three towns need different months of work. On that call we tell you what we would do first and what we would not bother with, and you get the quote in writing before anything starts.

Is SEO worth it for a small business?

Usually, when people search for what you sell. A plumber, a dentist or an accountant is being searched for every week, and showing up is cheaper than buying every one of those clicks with ads. Where it is genuinely not worth it, because almost nobody searches the category, we say that on the first call and you keep your money.

Can we just do it ourselves?

Some of it, yes, and our checklists walk you through exactly what we would do. The profile work in particular is worth doing yourself. Businesses hire us when the time runs out before the list does, which is the honest reason to pay anyone for this.

How long until the phone rings?

Profile work often shows within four to eight weeks, because so few competitors maintain theirs. New and rewritten pages take three to six months to settle. We report every month from your own accounts, so you watch it move rather than taking our word.
