Privacy policy

What we collect

When you send the contact form we receive your name, email address, website address, what you asked for and any message you typed, together with the page you sent it from and the time. The form is protected against automated submissions; that check may process your IP address and browser details on Cloudflare’s servers.

The chat bubble in the corner is a second form, not a live chat. What you type in it, and the email address if you leave one, reaches us the same way as the contact form, is protected the same way, and is kept for the same purpose.

The site loads Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and RB2B, which set their own cookies or browser storage; the next section names them, says what they record and how to turn them off. The site is served through Cloudflare, which does three things in your browser: it counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, a script loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com that uses no cookie and records no information that identifies you; it sets one cookie of its own, cf_clearance, which lasts a year and tells automated traffic from people; and it hides email addresses in the page from address-harvesting robots. Web fonts are served from this site rather than a third party, so nobody outside our hosting sees a request for them. Booking a call uses Calendly. The Book a call button opens Calendly’s calendar, either on calendly.com or, on some pages, inside this page; Calendly loads only when you press the button, and the name, email address and answers you give when booking go to Calendly and to us. Server logs held by our hosting provider record IP addresses and requested pages for security and are deleted on a rolling basis.

Counting visits: Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and RB2B

Pages here load Google Tag Manager, which loads Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. We use them to see which pages people read, which buttons they press, and where an enquiry gets stuck, so we can make the site easier to use.

Google Analytics records the pages you visit, how you arrived, your rough location from your IP address, your device and browser, and the actions this site reports to it: starting the contact form, a form that did not send, an enquiry or chat message that did and which kind of help it asked for (from the list on the form), a tap on the email address or the booking link, a call booked in the booking calendar opened on this site (only that a booking was made, never its details), using one of the free tools (which tool, never what you typed), and how far down a page you scrolled. It never receives your name, email address, website address, phone number or anything you typed.

Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used: clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movement, which it can play back as a recording of the page. Every form and every free tool on this site is hidden from it, so a recording shows an empty box where you typed and where a tool showed its result.

Both set cookies to tell one visit from the next. Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_9L31F9J7CB on this site, kept for up to two years. Clarity sets _clck, kept for a year, and _clsk, kept for a day, on this site, and Microsoft sets CLID, MUID, MR, SM, SRM_B and ANONCHK on its own addresses, clarity.ms and bing.com. What Google and Microsoft keep, and for how long, is decided by them and is set out in their own privacy statements.

The addresses involved: Tag Manager loads from www.googletagmanager.com, Google Analytics receives at www.google-analytics.com (or region1.google-analytics.com), and Clarity loads from www.clarity.ms and scripts.clarity.ms, syncs its cookie through c.clarity.ms and c.bing.com, and sends what it records to one collection address under clarity.ms that Microsoft picks for each visit, such as t.clarity.ms, y.clarity.ms or e.clarity.ms.

RB2B is a service that tells a business which companies and people visited its website. We use it to follow up with businesses that showed interest. When it loads, it sends your IP address to ip-api.com to find your rough location and whether the visit comes from a company network; for visits from the United States it then tries to match the visit to a business profile, such as a LinkedIn profile, and to the company behind it, with the help of identity partners it calls from your browser: LiveIntent (liadm.com), alocdn.com and usbrowserspeed.com, which can read and set their own cookies. It sets its own cookies on this site, whose names start with _reb2b, and reads the _fbp, _fbc and hubspotutk cookies if your browser has them for this site. It loads from ddwl4m2hdecbv.cloudfront.net and Amazon S3, and sends what it records to RB2B at app.rb2b.com and an address under execute-api.us-west-2.amazonaws.com. What RB2B and its partners keep, and for how long, is set out in their own privacy statements.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, none of this loads unless you press Accept on the banner. Everywhere else it loads by default. Wherever you are, you can change your choice here, and Reject stops it loading on every page after that.

How we use it

Form submissions are emailed to Passieon and used only to reply to you and, if you become a client, to run the work you asked for. We do not sell or share your details with anyone else, and we do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask to join one.

If you become a client we will ask for access to your Google Search Console and Analytics. That access is used to do the work and write your reports, and it is removed when the engagement ends.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Deleting a submission means we cannot reply to it. Email [email protected] and we will answer within ten working days.
