SEO for contractors

A renovation is searched for months before anyone calls. Kitchen renovation cost, home addition builders, bathroom renovation near me. The contractor with a page for that project, with photos, a price range and a neighborhood, gets on the shortlist.

Contractors who rank have project pages and a case study for each finished job. Contractors who do not have a gallery and a contact form. The same holds for a construction company doing commercial work: the searches are for the project type, and the page that wins names it.

Searches we build for, with the place name your customers use:

  • home renovation builders [city]
  • kitchen renovation cost [city]
  • home addition contractor [neighborhood]
  • general contractor near me

What stops contractors getting enquiries

Three problems we find on nearly every contractor website we audit, and what we do about each.

  1. Projects without pages

Additions, kitchens, bathrooms, decks and commercial build-outs each get their own searches. A page per project type, with your own photos, is the whole game.

  2. Case studies with no detail

A photo grid is not a case study. Neighborhood, brief, scope, duration and a price range make a page that ranks and that a homeowner trusts.

  3. License and insurance buried

Homeowners check the license before calling. It belongs on every page and in the profile, not on the About page only.

  • A construction site with a low-rise building wrapped in scaffolding, a tower crane above it, a cement mixer and stacked materials at ground level
  • A contractor standing with a homeowner couple in a room mid-renovation, pointing up at where a new opening will go, a stepladder and dust sheets around them

What you get each month

  • One project-type page each month: additions, kitchens, bathrooms, new builds, commercial build-outs
  • One case study each month written from your photos and a five-minute call
  • Google Business Profile with project photos weekly and services listed
  • Citations on trade and building directories, license number included
  • Technical fixes: quote form, image compression, speed, schema for the business and projects
  • Monthly Search Console report by project type and neighborhood

Want to do it yourself first?

We have written the whole method out, for contractors specifically, in the order it pays to do it. It is free, it is not a lead magnet, and there is nothing to fill in to read it. Most businesses get real movement from the first half of it on their own.

Where we do this

The method is the same everywhere; what people search for and where the results come from are not. Each market has its own page, and so do the cities where contractors search for this most.

How we work

A single-crew builder running the case study programme is a moderate month. A larger contractor covering a whole metro area is a bigger one. We scope the work on a call and send a written quote before anything starts. The SEO services page explains what a month covers and who does it.

Questions contractors ask us

How much do you need from us?

Photos of finished jobs and a five-minute call about each one. Everything else, including the writing, is on our side.

Can you rank us for renovation cost searches?

Yes. A page with an honest range and what moves it ranks well and brings enquiries from people with a budget already in mind.

Do you do the website changes?

Yes, on WordPress and most other platforms. Forms, speed and case study templates are the usual first jobs.

How long until enquiries change?

Profile and citation work shows in four to eight weeks. Project pages take three to six months against established builders.
