Web design and development services
We design and build websites on WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and custom stacks, for businesses and for agencies who resell them. The same team does SEO, so every site launches with the search work done: fast on a phone, easy to use, and set up to be found for the searches that bring in enquiries.

What we build, and on what
The right platform is the one that fits how your team will run the site. Each of these has its own page with the reasons to choose it and the reasons not to.
- WordPress web design and development Light themes, the block editor your team already knows, WooCommerce shops, and fixes to sites that already exist.
- Shopify design and development services Stores built from how your customers choose, with few apps and collection pages that can be found.
- Webflow design and development A CMS your marketing team can run, a component library, and every SEO setting filled in.
- Websites on Wix, Squarespace, HubSpot and Drupal The platform your team will keep up to date, from a café on Squarespace to forty editors on Drupal.
- Custom web design and development Static Astro sites, Next.js and React applications, headless CMS setups, and tools built into the page.
- Website redesign services A new site built around the pages that already earn, with every old URL redirected and tested.
- White label web design and development for agencies Builds for agencies, under your name, launched with the SEO foundations in place.
Sites we have built
Every one of these replaced a WordPress site and is now a static Astro site, built and launched by us. Open them on your phone and check the figures yourself: the page counts come from each site’s own sitemap and the scores from Google’s PageSpeed Insights.

How the SEO and the build work together
Most websites are built by one company and handed to another to make them findable. The second company spends its first months undoing the first one’s defaults: titles that all say "Home", headings chosen for their size, pages Google cannot index, redirects nobody wrote. We do both jobs, so the search work is part of the build from the first page map.
- The page map comes from search data: what people type, and on a redesign, what your Search Console says already earns
- Every page is built with its title, description, heading, schema and internal links already in place
- Old URLs keep their place or get a redirect that is tested against the new build before launch
- Speed and accessibility are measured on a phone before launch, and the numbers are yours
- Search Console is set up in your name on launch day, so the results are yours to read whoever does the work next
If the site is already built and the problem is that nobody finds it, the SEO services are the better place to start.
How a build runs, from brief to launch
Six stages on every site, whichever platform it is built on. The scope and the quote are agreed in writing after the first call, before any design starts.
-
01
The brief, on a call
What the site has to do, who it is for and what exists today. If there is a site already, we read its Search Console first, because the pages earning impressions decide what the new one must keep.
-
02
A page map before any design
Every page listed with the search it answers and the action it asks for. On a redesign, every old URL is written beside its new home. You sign the map off before design starts.
-
03
Design on real content
Pages designed with your actual words and pictures, at phone width first. You review in the browser, on a staging address search engines are told to ignore.
-
04
Build, with the SEO written in
Titles, descriptions, headings, schema and internal links are written as each page is built, so nothing is added at the end by somebody who never saw the page map.
-
05
Checks before launch
Speed measured on a phone, every page at 320px wide and at 200 percent text, keyboard and screen reader checks, forms sent and received, redirects tested against the new build.
-
06
Launch, handover and training
The switch, then Search Console read daily for two weeks. The domain, hosting and logins stay in your name, with a written note of how the site is built and a recorded session on editing it.
What every build includes
-
Speed
Measured in PageSpeed Insights on a phone before launch. Images sized for the slots they fill, fonts that do not block the page, no script a page does not use.
-
Accessibility
Colour contrast, keyboard use, visible focus, alt text written for each picture, 44px tap targets on phones, and every page readable at 200 percent text.
-
SEO foundations
One title, description and H1 per page, schema, a sitemap that matches the site, clean URLs, redirects from every old address, and Search Console set up in your name.
-
Hosting handover
The domain, the hosting and every login in your name. We set the site up on your host, recommend one, or host it for you; either way you can move it.
-
Training
A recorded call showing whoever edits the site how to change a page, add a post and swap a picture, and a short written guide to keep beside it.
-
Two weeks after launch
Search Console, forms and errors checked daily for the first fortnight, and anything the launch broke fixed straight away.
Web design for small businesses
Most small business sites need fewer pages than the owner fears and better ones than they have. A home page that says what you do and where. A page for each service, in the words your customers type. A page for each area you genuinely cover. A way to get in touch that works on a phone with one thumb. That is usually the whole site, and it is built so you can edit it yourself.
Several of the sites above are exactly that: local service businesses with a page per service and per area, and a calculator or a checker that answers the question customers ask before they call. When the site is live, the small business SEO and local SEO pages describe what keeps it bringing in work.
Redesigns and platform moves
A redesign or a move to a new platform is where a site most often loses the searches it already had, because URLs change, content is shortened and nobody checks the redirects. We plan the move from your Search Console, map every old address to its new page, test the redirects against the new build, and read Search Console daily for two weeks after the switch.

Questions about web design
How much does a website cost?
It depends on the number of pages, the platform and what the site has to do, so every build is quoted in writing after a call about it. Nothing starts until you have the scope and the quote in front of you.
How long does it take to build a website?
A small business site with a handful of pages takes weeks rather than months. A large site, a store or a migration takes longer, mostly in the planning. The written scope gives you a date for each stage, from page map to launch.
Which platform should we use?
The one that fits how your team will run the site. WordPress if you publish often and want to own everything, Shopify if selling is the main job, Webflow if marketing wants design control without a developer, and a custom build when speed, data or tools matter most. We recommend one on the first call and say why.
Do you build sites only, or do SEO as well?
Both, and most of this site is about the SEO. You can have the build on its own, or the build followed by monthly SEO from the same team, so nobody has to learn the site twice.
Will we own the website?
Yes. The domain, the hosting, the code, the content and every login are in your name, and Search Console is set up under your account. If you move to another developer, everything goes with you.
Do you work with agencies?
Yes. We build under your agency’s name, from your designer’s files or your brief, and we do not contact your client. The arrangement is described on the white label web design page.
