WordPress SEO services

Most small business websites run on WordPress, and most of them are slower, heavier and less visible than they need to be for reasons that have nothing to do with the content: a theme built for a demo, a plugin stack that grew over five years, image sizes nobody chose, and archive pages the site publishes by default and Google indexes by accident.

WordPress SEO is the work of making the platform do what it is good at and stopping what it does by default. Done properly it is invisible: the site looks the same to you and your customers, loads in a fraction of the time, and shows up for the searches that bring in work.

When the theme or the page builder is the reason the site cannot be made fast, the answer is sometimes a rebuild rather than more tuning, and we do that too: WordPress web design and development.

How the work is done

The plugin stack, audited and thinned

Every plugin adds code to every page. We list what each one does, remove what nothing uses, replace what is heavy with what is light, and keep the ones that earn their place. Speed usually improves more here than anywhere else.

Titles, descriptions and headings set on purpose

WordPress and its SEO plugins generate a title for every page unless somebody writes one. We write them for the pages that earn, in the words people search, and fix the post title that has become a bad H1.

The pages WordPress publishes without asking

Tag archives, author pages, date archives, attachment pages and paginated copies all get indexed unless they are told not to. Most of them are thin duplicates that compete with the pages you wrote. We keep the ones with a search behind them and take the rest out of the index.

Speed that survives the next update

Image sizes set for the slots they fill, caching that works with your host, fonts that load without blocking, and the checks written down so the next theme update does not undo them.

What you get

  • A full audit of the theme, the plugins and the templates, with what each one costs the site
  • Plugins removed, replaced or kept, with the reason for each written down
  • Titles, descriptions and H1s written for the pages that earn, and the template defaults fixed for the rest
  • Archive, tag, author and attachment pages reviewed and taken out of the index where they add nothing
  • Image sizes, caching, fonts and scripts tuned for speed on a phone, measured before and after
  • A monthly Search Console report of the searches you now appear for, and the enquiries behind them

Do it yourself first, if you would rather

The indexing and crawling sections are where most WordPress faults live, and they are the first two sections of the checklist. Run them before you hire anybody.

How the engagement works

There is no package to pick from. What the site needs is decided on a call and written down before any work starts, because a business with one location and a clean site needs a different month to an agency reselling to twelve clients.

  1. 01

A call, before anything is quoted

Thirty minutes on what you sell, where you sell it, and what the site looks like today. No scope is written before that conversation, because the right work depends on all three.

  2. 02

    A written scope and quote

What will be done, in what order, and what it costs, in writing. Nothing starts until you have agreed to it.

  3. 03

    Month to month from there

The work runs monthly and the scope changes as the site does. Cancel with 30 days’ notice.

True of every engagement

  • No lock-in: month to month, cancel with 30 days’ notice
  • One person you can email, in your working hours
  • Every change listed in the monthly report

Questions about wordpress seo

Will you change how our site looks?

No. The work is in the settings, the plugins, the templates and the words, and the site looks the same to a visitor. If a change would alter the design we say so first and you decide.

Which SEO plugin do you recommend?

Whichever one is already installed and configured properly, in most cases. Switching plugins mid-life costs more than it returns; configuring the one you have is where the gain is. If the site has none, we install one and set it up.

Can you work with a page builder like Elementor or Divi?

Yes. Builders add weight and sometimes markup problems, and we work within them rather than rebuilding. If the builder is the reason the site cannot be fast, we say so and quote the alternative separately.

Do you handle updates and security?

We keep the SEO configuration safe through updates and tell you when an update is needed. Ongoing maintenance and security are a separate service, and we can recommend a setup.
