Selling is the main job of the site
If the site exists to take orders, Shopify’s checkout, payments and stock management are hard to beat, and you maintain none of it.
Shopify runs the parts of a shop that go wrong expensively, payments, hosting, security and checkout, so you never maintain them. What it leaves to you is the storefront, and that is where most stores lose: a theme bought for its demo photographs, a dozen apps each loading its own script, and collection pages with a title, a grid and nothing a search engine can read.
PageSpeed Insights on the home pages of the 7 sites we link as our work, 14 Oct 2026.
We design and build Shopify stores from how your customers choose: what they compare, what they need to know before they buy, and what they type into Google. The theme is adapted or built for your catalogue, apps are kept to the ones worth their weight, and the SEO is set up in the theme before the store opens.

Updates, security and hosting are Shopify’s job. Your team adds products and runs offers from the admin.
Online, in person, on social channels and on marketplaces, from one stock list.
A site that is mostly content with a few products, or one that needs a checkout Shopify does not allow, is often better on WordPress with WooCommerce or a custom build.
From the catalogue structure up: collections, product templates, navigation and filters planned before the theme is touched.
An Online Store 2.0 theme adapted or built for your products, with sections your team can rearrange in the editor without code.
From WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace or a custom platform, with products and customers imported and every old URL redirected.
An audit of what loads on a product page, apps removed or replaced, and the theme trimmed, measured before and after.
Shopify has a short list of SEO problems that are its own: the /collections/ and /products/ paths it will not let you change, the same product at several URLs when it sits in several collections, and themes that break the canonical tag meant to handle that. On a store we build, those are dealt with in the theme from the start.
Collection pages get the copy that answers how to choose, placed so the products still lead. Product and breadcrumb schema are checked against what the page actually shows.
For a store that is already trading, the work is described on Shopify SEO services.
On top of the speed, accessibility, SEO, hosting handover and training that come with every build.
We have no Shopify store to link as an example yet. The sites we have built are on the web design services page, and a Shopify build follows the same process.
Six stages on every site, whichever platform it is built on. The scope and the quote are agreed in writing after the first call, before any design starts.
01
What the site has to do, who it is for and what exists today. If there is a site already, we read its Search Console first, because the pages earning impressions decide what the new one must keep.
02
Every page listed with the search it answers and the action it asks for. On a redesign, every old URL is written beside its new home. You sign the map off before design starts.
03
Pages designed with your actual words and pictures, at phone width first. You review in the browser, on a staging address search engines are told to ignore.
04
Titles, descriptions, headings, schema and internal links are written as each page is built, so nothing is added at the end by somebody who never saw the page map.
05
Speed measured on a phone, every page at 320px wide and at 200 percent text, keyboard and screen reader checks, forms sent and received, redirects tested against the new build.
06
The switch, then Search Console read daily for two weeks. The domain, hosting and logins stay in your name, with a written note of how the site is built and a recorded session on editing it.
Speed
Measured in PageSpeed Insights on a phone before launch. Images sized for the slots they fill, fonts that do not block the page, no script a page does not use.
Accessibility
Colour contrast, keyboard use, visible focus, alt text written for each picture, 44px tap targets on phones, and every page readable at 200 percent text.
SEO foundations
One title, description and H1 per page, schema, a sitemap that matches the site, clean URLs, redirects from every old address, and Search Console set up in your name.
Hosting handover
The domain, the hosting and every login in your name. We set the site up on your host, recommend one, or host it for you; either way you can move it.
Training
A recorded call showing whoever edits the site how to change a page, add a post and swap a picture, and a short written guide to keep beside it.
Two weeks after launch
Search Console, forms and errors checked daily for the first fortnight, and anything the launch broke fixed straight away.
Yes, or adapt a good existing one, which is often the better use of the budget. Either way it is a theme your team edits through sections in the Shopify editor.
Yes, with the same method as any migration: every old URL listed from Search Console and a crawl, each one redirected to its closest new page in Shopify’s redirect settings, and the redirects tested before the switch.
Every app that adds a script to the storefront costs some speed, and stores collect them. We add an app only when the theme cannot do the job, and measure what it costs before keeping it.
Not yet. The sites we link as examples are WordPress rebuilds and custom builds, on the web design services page. A Shopify build runs the same way: a page map first, the SEO in the theme, and speed measured on a phone before launch.
