Make sure the business owns the property
Use a Google account controlled by the business and verify the website property. Give staff and agencies appropriate access instead of transferring ownership to a provider. This keeps the history available if the working relationship changes.
Read Performance by page and query
Choose a period, then compare it with a similar earlier period. Filter to a service page to see the queries that brought impressions and clicks. Look for searches that match the service you sell. A rise in unrelated impressions may look good in a total while bringing little useful work.
Read Page indexing by importance
The report groups URLs by why they are indexed or excluded. An excluded duplicate can be normal; an excluded service page needs a closer look. Inspect that exact URL before changing robots rules or submitting the whole sitemap again. Note the reason, the fix and the next check date.
Connect the numbers to inquiries
Compare clicks on your main pages with form submissions, bookings and other business records in a separate analytics system. Search Console clicks are not the same as visits or customers. Use both views to decide whether a page needs better visibility, a clearer answer or a better contact path.
